Technology has redefined the way we live, it has impacted almost every aspect of life today, and education is no exception. With the incessant advancement in technology, the learning environment has changed.
Technology has begun to modify the roles of teachers and learners.Wide reach of the Internet and the ubiquitousness of smart devices has made possible creating a new age of anytime and anywhere education. Better access to information;interactive ways of learning, easy retention of information, expanded storage of information has revolutionized the whole education system.
The conventional method of delivering lectures to more than 40-50 students in a classroom with limited resources and with a linear method is now being given a backseat in today’s world.
Studies show that productivity and concentration of students increased by 43% when they are referring to the internet for learning.E-learning is an interactive and user friendly method of providing education with use of electronic media and Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) Students feel free to ask anytime and also have the advantage of reviewing the lectures by recording them.
From the teacher’s perspective, e-learning tools help them to get unambiguous , pellucid feedback from a student engaging with material. They can see where students get lost in a lesson and grade assignments with the click of a button.E-learning consumed 90% less energy than traditional learning.
A reduced workload allows teachers to flex their skills in other ways—ways that are more beneficial to the students and the classroom.
E learning caters content and interaction around the individual user—their speed, their interests. Each instructor comes with his/her own style of training and content delivery and hence consistency can be a concern with classroom content.
With eLearning, the course content and delivery is exactly the same each time. With eLearning, there is standardization and consistency in the delivery of content, which is difficult to attain in classroom training.
E-learning breaks the limitation of physical barrier. With E-learning students are exposed to different methods of education. The use of images, sound, text, videos can lead to better understanding of any subject and student feels more involved through such system.Through E learning one can easily go through any subject without wasting time on the subjects which doesn’t require thorough study or easily understandable.Instead of spending huge money on school infrastructure, education through e learning does not require any physical set up and it is very low in cost also.
