DATA ANALYTICS IN EDUCATION & LEARNING!

DATA ANALYTICS IN EDUCATION & LEARNING

Certainly data analytics is a game changer in the education sector. It is an emerging process through which the growth and development is expected to be gigantic.Education institutions gather large data but they do not nurture a data driven culture. Data analytics succeeded traditional criteria of analyses with the new modern way of making analysis and depicting data. According to Ravi Shankar Prasad, current minister of electronics and IT in India, India is already on the road to become a big analytical centre.

What is data analytics?

It is the science of analyzing raw data in order to make conclusions about the information. It aids in revealing trends and matrices that would otherwise be lost in the mass of information and thereby enabling nimble witted decisions.

If a decision will be made after close attention to numerical patterns and trends interpreted from the analysed data,it will increase the overall efficiency.

Advantages of data analytics-

  • It helps in getting a better overview of the performance of the students.
  • Remedial teaching
  • Big data analysis helps in creating customized individualized programmes  which will help in learning at own pace.
  • Helping hand in prediction of the future behaviour of students.
  • Aids new strategic solutions to the past challenges faced.
  • Helps in effective, efficient and balanced decision making.
  • Assists in easy adapting by identifying new trends.
  • Accurate and reliable.

According to teachers, data analysis helps in saving 80% of their time doing administrative tasks and thus can utilize this time on high priority needs activities. Report bee is a platform being used by over 15000 teachers to record, report, and analyze.

Earlier because of the inefficient technology schools fought shy of  making scientific research and analysis, by now a number of affordable platforms have escalated across the country to help in collecting and analysing data.

The government is actively acquiring data at every stage in different forms such as a child tracking system known as SARAL (Systematic Administrative Reforms for Achieving Learning by Students), baseline tests and U-DISE (Unified District Information System for Education) – an online database of schools maintained by the central government.India is performing well in the area of data analytics.  With dynamic growth India is all set for operating as a data analytical leader.
